In this episode of The Broadband Bunch, host Brad Hine sits down with Juan Pinzon, Project Manager at Aspire Communications, at Fiber Connect 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. Juan shares a look at Aspire’s evolution from a small startup to a growing broadband service provider delivering turnkey fiber optic solutions.

From Startup Roots to Broadband Innovator

Aspire Communications began as a classic garage startup founded by Stephen Weatherford and Jared Hill. What started as a small team of ten quickly expanded into a leading construction and network design firm serving customers across Florida and California. Today, Aspire has grown to over 200 employees and recently launched its own ISP division, Aspire Broadband.

Juan details his own path from fiber splicing technician to project manager—a journey defined by learning every aspect of the fiber lifecycle, from engineering and design to customer service and sales. That hands-on experience fuels Aspire’s ability to deliver “everything fiber,” offering end-to-end solutions from network design and construction to active broadband operations.

Major Projects and Market Expansion

Aspire’s work in Leesburg, Florida, marked a pivotal point in its growth, building nearly 800,000 feet of fiber and serving over 1,500 installations. Building on that success, the company expanded west, leading large-scale projects in California’s Simi Valley and Moorpark. The company’s commitment to precision and partnership has allowed it to flourish across multiple markets.

Juan highlights how Aspire leverages platforms to handle design, splicing, and integration tasks—centralizing network intelligence and streamlining project delivery. Meanwhile, internal innovation and AI-assisted workflows are helping Aspire push efficiency even further.

Bridging the Digital Divide

At the heart of Aspire’s mission is community connectivity. Juan and his team are passionate about bringing high-speed fiber to underserved and rural areas, ensuring that every household and local government facility has access to reliable broadband. Their recent partnerships with municipalities like Moorpark, California, underscore this commitment—delivering fiber-based smart city infrastructure and public Wi-Fi in parks and community spaces.

While Aspire continues to champion fiber as the backbone of broadband, Juan recognizes the potential of complementary technologies like fixed wireless to reach even more remote communities. However, for long-term sustainability and scalability, fiber remains the foundation of their vision.

Workforce Development and Culture of Growth

Juan also addresses one of the industry’s toughest challenges—skilled labor shortages. Aspire has met this head-on by creating a culture of mentorship and internal promotion, training technicians from within and giving them opportunities to grow into management and leadership roles. This focus on team development and shared purpose has helped Aspire sustain rapid growth while maintaining quality and cohesion.

Looking Ahead

With ongoing expansion in both Florida and California, Aspire Communications is positioning itself as both a trusted construction partner and a next-generation service provider. Their journey represents more than business growth—it’s a story of innovation, resilience, and community impact.

Aspire’s ultimate goal is clear: to continue expanding fiber access, bridging the digital divide, and proving that passion-driven teams can redefine broadband delivery in America.
